Here are some of our most frequently-asked questions, which should help to clarify any misunderstandings you might have. If you have a question that is not answered on this list, please feel free to ask us about it at info@LPtransfer.com. Your questions may be added to this page for the convenience of others.
Prices & Ordering:
Q: How long will the entire process take? A: On average, you should receive your package back within 3 weeks from the time you shipped it. Please note that this time may vary based upon the number of additional orders we are processing. Should your order take longer than 3 weeks to complete, we will promptly contact you by email.
Q: What payment methods are accepted? A: We accept all major credit credit cards - including Visa, MasterCard, Discover Novus, and American Express. Since all of our transactions are processed through PayPal, you may pay by any other means that PayPal accepts, such as a direct bank account transfer.
Q: How can I order? A: Read our "Disclaimers, Terms, & Conditions Statement." Then go to our "Order Online" page and submit the form at the top. Lastly, use our catalog and cart to place an order, by clicking on any of the "Add to Cart" buttons. Further instructions can be found on the "Order Online" page itself.
Q: Where can I find a list of prices for this service? A: A list of prices for this service can be found on our "Process" and "Pricing" pages, under the "Pricing" section. All of the item transfers that may be purchased are listed there, as well as other pricing details.
Q: Do you accept orders from outside the United States? A: Yes, we do accept orders from outside the US. However, because we have not yet had an international order, our international shipping prices and methods are not established at this time. If you live outside of the domestic area and wish to purchase our item transfers, please contact us at info@LPtransfer.com beforehand, so we can work out the details. We will be more than happy to work with you on the matter, and will make an effort to accommdate your needs.
Q: Do you accept drop-off orders? A: No. The only way for us to receive your recordings, is for you to send them to us at the address provided on our "Shipping and Handling" page.
Transfer Process:
Q: What types of recordings can you transfer to CD? A: We can convert 33s, 45s, and cassettes of all lengths.
Q: What types of recordings can you transfer to DVD? A: We can convert only VHS tapes to DVD.
Q: During sound cleaning, will all noise disturbances be removed? A: While our software may be able to remove the great majority of pops, clicks, etc, it cannot possibly remove ALL of them. Please understand that we are simply a music "transfer" service, not a "repair" service; we do not offer restoration services. How well of a job our software does is based on how scratched, warped, or worn your recording is. Regardless, your CD will sound several times cleaner and better than the original recording.
If your record is cracked or damaged so severely that it is practically unplayable, or if you are worried that not all noise disturbances may be corrected, please do not send it to us!
Q: Will my recording be split into separate tracks before being burned to CD?
A: Of course. As long as the tracks are listed on the recording or its jacket/case, we will split the tracks accordingly. If the tracks are not listed, we ask that you send us a listing yourself. If you choose not to, we will separate the tracks based on our own judgment, and to the best of our ability.
Q: Can you make a compilation CD/DVD out of multiple recordings? A: No. Our item transfers are limited to that specific recording itself. We cannot take multiple records or cassettes and combine them.
Q: Can I order multiple copies of my transferred CD/DVD?
A: No. When we transfer your recording to CD/DVD, we are only allowed to provide you with one CD/DVD copy - this is constituted as personal use. It is not legal for us to produce multiple copies of the transferred recording and sell them to you, as this goes against copyright law.
Q: Can I import my transferred CD to my computer, iPod, or MP3 player? A: Of course. We burn the CD tracks as MP3 files, which you can then import onto any portable media device you choose.
Q: Can I see a sample of what my transferred CD will look like, or hear how it will sound? A: Of course. Please visit our "Product Samples" page, where we have provided pictures and sound clips - both before and after - of recordings we've already converted.
Shipping and Order Tracking:
Q: How will I be able to track the status or my order? A: Once your order has been entered into our system, you will be able to track its status by logging into your account at www.paypal.com/us. Additionally, we manually will send an email each time your order progresses from one stage of the process to another.
Q: How should I ship my recordings to you? A: You may ship your recordings to us using any carrier you like, such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, etc. To prevent any damage occuring to your recordings during shipping, be sure to use a sturdy box, as well as plenty of bubble wrap when preparing your package. Please include with your order the "Review" page from the Paypal transaction, as this will help us to properly identify and process your order.
Afterwards, please ship your properly-packaged recordings to the following address:
Jasman, Ltd. 2745 Sulgrave Road Beachwood, OH 44122
Q: How will my recordings be returned to me?
A: We will safely package your recordings before sending them back to you. We make an effort to handle your items with care. Your package will then be sent via USPS Media Mail, which should take sometime between 2 and 7 business days to reach you, depending on where in the country you live.
Q: Is it legal for you to provide this service? A: According to US copyright laws, it is legal for one to make a copy of any musical recording they own, as long as they own the original recording, and use the copy strictly for their own personal use. They are allowed to transfer the music from one medium to another -- in this case, from LP or cassette to CD, and from VHS to DVD. However, US copyright law prohibits one from creating a copy of a recording and reselling it.
Q: Can I trust you with my recordings? Will I get them back?
A: We handle your recordings with the utmost care. And of course you will get them back. They are YOURS, after all. Regardless, it is against US copyright law for us not to return your recordings to you. The same goes for the transferred CD(s)/DVD(s).
Q: What if there is a problem with my order? A: If there is any problem whatsoever with your order, you will be contacted immediately. This is why we require to to submit contact information before each time you place an order. When we communicate with you, it will be through email, so please make sure that your filter accepts emails sent from our address; info@LPtransfer.com.
Q: What happens if you do not receive my payment, package, and acceptance of the terms and conditions?
A: In order for us to process your order, we must receive all three of these items. If we do not receive one or more of them, then we will not begin to transfer your recordings, or do anything else involving your order. If this is the case, you will be contacted and notified by email that one of these items was not received, and that it is needed for us to begin working on your order.
